Wesley Benn

Wesley Benn
Executive Chairman
Region Chairman, RTC Asia / Europe

A Sydney-based architect, Wesley is the founder of RTC Events Management and the RTC Event series. As a long term user and advocate of BIM, Wesley has been speaking and teaching in the field since starting to work with ArchiCAD and then Revit in the late 1990’s. Wesley has worked directly with Autodesk on Revit development and implementation, built content for manufacturers and end-users, and has implemented multiple BIM tools into well over 300 practices throughout South-East Asia and beyond.

Wesley is a regular speaker at events across Australia and overseas talking about technology, Integrated Practice, and facilities management. He founded (and chaired for 5 years) the Revit User Group, Sydney; teaches design, BIM, and architectural technologies at the University of New South Wales, in Sydney, Australia, and remains active in architectural practice and smart cities development globally.

Heidi has been working on RTC events since 2007. In 2010 when RTC Events Management was formed Heidi joined the team, managing both the Australasian and inaugural North American events. Heidi is responsible for the strategic direction of RTCem and the expansion into new regions. Heidi is kept busy and entertained by her young family.

Chris works in AECOM's BIM Consultancy as a Project Information Manager and BIM Lead. Lately he's been busy defining data standards for several organisations, focusing on integration of multiple information sources and platforms. He claims it is more fun than it sounds....

Prior to joining AECOM, Chris operated his own BIM consulting firm, assisting many firms in organizational change efforts, systems analysis and design, training programmes and project delivery. He has worked on projects in Australia, Singapore and the United Kingdom, using his experience to develop systems and processes for numerous organisations.

Chris desperately hopes to one day cease his involvement in extra-curricular activities... though BILT isn't one of those.

Phil Read
Director of Marketing and Communications

Phil Read is the co-founder of Read | Thomas - an AECO consulting group focused on connecting designers, builders and owners through cross-discipline and technology integration.

Phil has 20 years in Architecture and Engineering including 12 years experience using and implementing Autodesk Revit. A frequent public speaker, he has presented at both Autodesk University and RTC on many topics ranging from technical to management to process change.

Jim Balding

Jim Balding

Jim Balding is a visionary leader who combines an extensive knowledge of architecture and design practices with a passionate interest in technology. He is the Founder & CEO of The Architecture & New Technologies Group (The ANT Group), headquartered Orange, California. Jim has spent the last 30 years offering his architectural design and technology experience to private clients, AEC firms, property owners, and software companies. Jim is a practicing architect, consultant, technology enthusiast, author, educator, speaker, family man, and confidant.

Mr. Balding has been a leader in the Autodesk® Revit® software world for over 15 years. He founded the South Coast Revit User Group (SCRUG) and served as its president for 5 years. SCRUG is now the longest running Revit User Group in the world. Jim was also a co-author to Introducing and Implementing Autodesk Revit under the Autodesk Press label through 5 editions.

Jim, a licensed architect of over 20 years, has spent much of his career working with AEC firms and property owners on the proper implementation of design technologies in workflow and operations. He has served as an advisor to numerous startups and has been involved in several software beta programs including those for Revit, AutoCAD, Avail, SketchUp, Buzzsaw, Skooter, Revizto, Fuzor, ConceptCAD, and Showcase, among others. Richard Kuppusamy
Speaker Manager

Richard Kuppusamy is a chartered British Architect with more than 15 years of experience in the AEC industry delivering large scale projects in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia regions. At WOHA Architects in Singapore, he is a Senior Architectural Designer and BIM Leader; taking a humanistic approach in designing solutions for sustainable high-rise, high-density, living in the tropical environments of South East Asia.

Richard’s expertise includes over 8 years’ experience in BIM implementation and strategic planning. He is responsible for leading multi-disciplinary collaboration teams and developing BIM workflows from conceptual design through to production information. Richard leverages his experience as an architect, in BIM implementation through project planning, critical thinking, and the ability to logically leverage technology to aid project efficiency.

Richard is a regular speaker at many conferences and has contributed to the development of the Building Construction Authority, Singapore BIM Guide. His experience in architecture and delivering BIM enabled projects encompasses a wide spectrum of sectors including education, commercial, residential, healthcare and transport.

Phil Lazarus
Marketing Manager

Phil Lazarus is an American Architect with over 15 years of experience in the design, documentation and construction of large projects around the globe. Immersed in 3d process from the start of his career, he has leveraged the power of BIM on the behalf of architects, engineers, contractors and clients. Involved with Singapore’s largest construction projects since 2006, Phil has been leading the charge in establishing BIM and promoting technology based innovation throughout Asia. Building upon a design background in stadia and assembly projects, he has established BIM teams for Lend Lease in Singapore, Malaysia and Shanghai focused upon creating construction value in project planning and delivery.

Working tirelessly to advance BIM adoption, Phil is a faculty member in the Singapore BCA’s BIM Specialist Diploma Program, building fundamental understanding of the process. Simultaneously, he has founded the “Forum for Advanced Revit Training in Singapore” to assist in developing core modelling skills amongst eager Revit users. Phil’s core belief is that experienced knowledgeable people with access to the highest levels of technology & training results in enterprise efficiency and improved project delivery.

   

Nigel Ford

Nigel Ford is a Chartered Engineer working for Atlas Industries, a collaboration company with its main Operation Centre in Saigon, Vietnam.

Nigel is currently working with Architects, Structural Engineers and Building Services Engineers, assisting them to collaborate on BIM Projects throughout Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

Nigel is originally from the UK where before joining Atlas, he worked in the Manufacturing Industry setting up factories in the UK and the USA, manufacturing Luxury Vinyl Floor Tiles for Amtico International.

Nigel’s mission is now to bring the ‘Just In Time’ and ‘Lean Manufacturing’ philosophies into the AEC Industry by promoting Open BIM Services, real collaboration and Integrated Project Delivery.

Clay Hickling
Speaker Manager

Clay Hickling has been working with GHD for over a decade as an architectural and civil designer/documenter and is part of an internal development team coordinating the use of Revit and other BIM related technologies through the various parts of the GHD business.

Clay enjoys sharing knowledge with others and enjoys meeting people in the RTC community. Outside of this environment Clay spends as much time as he can on the golf course and riding a bike.

Adam Sheather
Program Manager

Adam Sheather is the BIM Manager for YTL Corporation based in KL, Malaysia which provide full life cycle services from land development, design, turnkey construction and management of completed assets. His time is split between office and onsite working with design, site and clients to deliver assets.

Adam leads the design & construction teams in BIM methodologies for design, documentation, planning, contracts, QS, fabrication and facility management. In addition Adam is a software developer working on Revit, Navisworks, Dynamo and web technologies and databases and has developed Revit addons for companies with 100's of users.

   

Ceilidh Higgins
Associate Committee - Marketing

Ceilidh's specialty is work - both the places we work and the way we work. Her day job is Senior Associate for Interior Design at DJRD where she specialises in workplace strategy and design, delivering workplace projects from as small as 5 people through to upwards of 1000 people. She is involved across all project phases from proposal stage through to post construction. She also has experience across a wide range of sectors including government, laboratories, healthcare and transport. Ceilidh was an early adopter of Revit for interior design and is a well known presenter at RTC. You might also know her alter ego "Stu BIMinions". Outside of work, Ceilidh researches, writes and speculates on the future of work - both as a place and the processes of working within the AEC industry - and the impacts of technology upon both. Chris Penn
Associate Committee - Stream Lead

Chris is the BIM Manager for the Hansen Yuncken and Leighton Contractors JV on the $1.85BN new Royal Adelaide Hospital Project in South Australia.

He is a Building Services Engineer who had been influential shaping the UK construction industry and for over 30 years. In 2011 he relocated to Adelaide to be instrumental establishing BIM on the largest and most technically advanced hospital project in Australia. He has since guided the design and construction teams, the whole supply chain and the handing over of the LOD500 data as a virtual asset to Spotless and the State. This achievement has been significant for SA and the BIM adoption across Australia. He is Vice Chairman for buildingSMART Australasia and has been invited to represent the industry on the first Australian BIM Advisory Board (ABAB) set up by ACIF & APCC.

   

Nathan Hildebrandt

Nathan is a passionate Architect that is driven to succeed. He has a broad experience in the management and delivery of a variety of Architectural Project types as a “Managing Architect.” He is highly regarded for his skills in the development of OPENBIM processes, being seen as a leader in the use of BIM authoring software ArchiCAD not only locally but internationally also, being invited to present at the Graphisoft KCC 2014 in Budapest, Hungary and a number of local events. He also contributes to the community through Volunteering in a number of BIM based organisations and shares his experiences through his BIM blog “Skewed.”

Robert began working for Stantec when his former company was acquired. He immediately became part of an international team of BIM experts acoss the organization. He is involved in firm-wide practice integration, primarily focused on MEP engineering, training and education, development of best practices, and multi-discipline BIM collaboration with internal and external clients. Robert promotes the importance of working with truly collaborative teams to improve the overall building construction process and using technology appropriately to remove barriers.

Steve Stafford
Region Manager

Steve is the Region Manager for BILT North America. He has been a presenter at RTC events since 2006 as well as at Autodesk University since 2004. He has been working as a freelance Revit training and implementation consultant since 2005. His company is called AEC Advantage, Inc. Very active in the Revit community at large, he has been participating in online Revit groups since shortly after the product was released publicly in 2000. You can find him serving as the forum manager for the Autodesk User Group International (AUGI) Revit Community and he served a two year term as a member of AUGI's Board of Directors (2006-2008).

As an author he has contributed chapters to two Wiley/Sybex Revit books and has three Revit focused blogs - www.Revitoped.com, www.revitinside.com and www.revitjobs.com. He currently lives in Southern California with his wife and two children.

   

Desiree Mackey
Speaker Manager

Desirée (Dezi) has been in the AEC industry for more than 15 years. After obtaining her bachelor's and master’s degrees from University of California, Davis and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, she perpetuated her nerdy tendencies with Revit. She started her career in California with a construction company, then with a structural engineering firm, and now is a practicing structural engineer and BIM Manager at Martin/Martin in Denver, Colorado.

Dezi is a regular speaker at many conferences, she co-founded the Rocky Mountain Building Information Society, is the Chair of the Structural Engineers Association of Colorado's BIM Committee, and is currently serving as an AUGI board member and Vice President. Finally, as if that is not enough Revit in her life, she is married to “The Revit Geek” and acts as a partner in his BIM consulting firm, BD Mackey Consulting.

Nicholas Kramer
Program Manager

Nicholas M. Kramer, LEED® AP is the Director of Design Technology for LPA Inc, a fully integrated practice focusing on all areas of the built industry based out of Irvine, California. Nicholas has managed projects, implemented Revit and new technologies, developed standards, processes and best practices for worldwide architectural companies and clients.

At LPA, Nicholas provides strategic direction for BIM and new technologies, spearheads the company’s research and development group and overseas the company’s Technology department. Nicholas is also currently serving as the chairman for the South Coast Revit Users Group (SCRUG), and has guest lectured on construction, BIM, estimating and sustainability at UCLA, Autodesk University and other forums.

   

Mark Schmieding
Partnerships Manager

Mark has led BIM design and project delivery for multiple firms on projects ranging from retail interior projects to large-scale commercial towers throughout the world. It is his diverse experience and previous history working at the original Revit Technology Corporation that has enabled him to fully comprehend design method technology.

Mark earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Kansas and held an International Study Scholarship at Universität Dortmund in Germany. He studied Post-Graduate Architecture and International Studies at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology.

Mark is licensed in the State of Illinois, is a member of the American Institute of Architects, and is a LEED Accredited Professional. Mark is a Director at bKL Architecture as Technology Practice Leader.

Silvia Taurer is the founder, owner and director of LivingRoomCraftZ, a consultancy at the forefront of BIM technologies.Evangelising BIM, she inspires LivingRoomCraftZ to maximise and optimize BIM workflow and management practices in content and efficiency.In her role as BILT Region Manager she is a key contributor in planning BILT Europe and is the primary local contact for all RTC activities throughout Europe.Coming from an international background, Silvia speaks fluent German, Dutch and English, conversational level French and basic level Spanish and Japanese.

Martin Taurer
Speaker Manager

Born in Austria too long ago to remember, Martin graduated as an Architect from Technical University Graz, Austria in 1987 and practiced in Austria, Germany and Brazil through 1999. At that time he joined Autodesk briefly, then moved to the fledgling Revit Technology Corporation in 2001, before getting reabsorbed by Autodesk with its purchase of Revit the following year. He worked as a product designer and product manager on Revit in multiple geographies including both Japan and Australia, before joining a new technologies based architectural and consulting practice in the Netherlands in 2007, LivingRoomCraftz (www.livingroomcraftz.com). Martin has spoken at numerous conferences including RTC, is an author, blogger, and itinerant Mac fanatic whose deep technical expertise in many of the most complex BIM tools has him in high demand throughout Europe and the rest of the world.

As a serial intrapreneur his mission is to make Grundfos the easiest pump company to work with through digital tools. He is an avid global speaker on the perceived challenges of providing a global BIM offering and how to overcome them - spicing up his talks with great deals of humor and provocative statements.He is also a member of the BuildingContentSummit (BCS) Steering Committee and is involved in organizations like ASHRAE, Europump, BIMMEPaus and ISO. Being exceptionally passionate about all things digital, he has worked with innovation and incubation of new products and business models. He holds a Master of Science in Economics and International Business from Aarhus University’s School of Business and Social Sciences - and brews beer in his sparetime.

Robert is the current chairman for DTS, his day job is working for Stantec in the Boston office, he has been a key team member on multiple projects, and he now serves as the BIM R&D leader for the firm as well as providing business consulting services for clients implementing BIM. He provides high level support, planning and implementation of new tools and management of custom software development for Revit. He has spoken at: RTC NA, Autodesk University, has been a guest lecturer at the BAC, and has presented at BIM events hosted by the AIA, ACEC, Autodesk and resellers. He has written two articles about Revit for the AUGI AEC Edge magazine, and has written assessment questions for KnowledgeSmart. He can occasionally be found on Twitter (rpiboy) and in his free time he enjoys swimming, skiing and biking with his wife and three year old daughter.

Craig Barbieri is Pennoni’s national Design Technology Manager and drives the use of technologies to enhance the practice of design and engineering across 28 offices. He identifies, directs and implements BIM and “best practice” technologies that enhanced the firm’s capabilities and productivity. With 16 years of experience with BIM in practice, management, and leadership he has managed some substantial advancements in the use of design technology, as well as the cultural and process related changes that followed the adoption of BIM. He is an advocate for maximizing the potential of current and new technologies on projects and monitors the effective use of the benefits BIM provides.

David Spehar

David is a licensed architect with over 20 years of experience on a wide range of architectural projects.  He has been a Revit user and BIM advocate since 2003 and is a Revit Architecture Certified Professional.  David is currently Stantec’s Corporate BIM Leader overseeing the firm-wide practice integration of BIM through training and education, development of best practices, project management support, multi-discipline BIM collaboration, and performance based design integration.  He is a leader in helping Stantec transition from a document based design process to an intelligent model based design process.

David has a strong background in architectural project management and project BIM management. His strengths include client interface, BIM planning, project cost control, overall project coordination, and schedule management. Throughout his career he has been responsible for a range of responsibilities from complete project design, documentation and management of smaller projects, to project management and coordination of large, complex projects.

Small Group Leader - DTS

Robert Yori is a Senior Digital Design Manager at the New York office of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. He co-manages the office’s Digital Design research and implementation efforts, designs and maintains learning curricula and content, trains project teams, advises and mentors in BIM and other design technology matters, and co-leads SOM's Firmwide BIM & Digital Design initiatives.

In addition, Robert develops BIM curricula for and teaches at New York University and the New York School of Interior Design, and has presented at Autodesk University, ACADIA, RTC, and BIMForum. His work has also been published in the Journal of Building Information Modeling.

Robert received both his Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Architecture degrees from the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC.

 

   

Megan Green
Small Group Leader - DTS

Megan Green is the Director of Design Technology at JBA Consulting Engineers, working out of their Las Vegas headquarters for the past 9 years. She oversees company-wide design technology practices across all JBA offices, including their training, standards and documentation. She leads the company's BIM Focus Group as well as the Drafting Standards Committee and gets out of the office often, serving as an important point of contact for JBA’s clients in implementing BIM solutions. Megan received her bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and has been published in AUGIWorld Magazine.

Randall Stevens is an industry veteran with more than 20 years of software development, sales and management experience. Randall offers a unique combination of expertise in software and graphics technology, coupled with a degree in architecture. Randall founded ArchVision in 1991, a software development firm specializing in 3D graphics and content management technology for the design industry. He successfully led the company in the development of Rich Photorealistic Content (RPC) currently being used by customers in more than 100 countries. Through ArchVision, Randall built relationships with the industry's leading design visualization software companies including Autodesk and Bentley Systems.Randall received his B.Arch. from the University Of Kentucky College Of Architecture and served as an adjunct faculty member at the College of Design at the University of Kentucky from 1991-2007 teaching the use of Autocad, 3ds Max, Sketchup and Revit. He currently teaches entrepreneurship at the University of Kentucky College of Business.

Mike has over 20 years of technology sales experience within the building product manufacturer community. In 2006 Mike Co-Founded BIMWorld, a company focused specifically on the development and distribution of BIM ready product models for the design community. In December of 2008 Autodesk Inc acquired BIMWorld as the foundation of the now well know Autodesk Seek content platform. Mike’s team lead the sales strategy to bring Seek to market. In April of 2013 Mike Co-founded Global Product Data, developing applications for building product manufacturers and the audiences they serve.

Aaron Maller (twiceroadsfool) has been implementing BIM and Practice Technology software in AEC Firms for over a decade. He is now the Director of Parallax Team, Consulting. Their specialties include all template and library creation and maintenance, addin deployments and customizations, Revit User Experience customizations, all installations and updates, all user training and instructional handout and video creation, and on the fly support for Architectural, Preconstruction, and Construction Project Teams in all phases of AEC Projects. Robert Weygant is President of Sumex Design, an AEC content development firm that has worked with over 600 manufacturers to create Revit content. He is also co-founder and managing partner of SPECtrumBIM, LLC, which specializes in Revit Content Productivity tools and process improvement to bridge gaps between AEC professionals and Building Product Manufacturers. He is also the author of two AEC titles: “Construction Specifications Writing – Practices and Principles” and “BIM Content Development - Standards, Strategies and Best Practices”.

Working as a General Contractor, technical marketing specialist for building products, Independent specifier, and BIM Content Developer, Robert has a unique perspective on collaboration within the design and construction process.
